chore: remove the deprecated "fix CC slowness" feature

This feature was introduced to work around a bug in the CC which
introduced a lot of slowness. It was deprecated in 069287e because the
issue was fixed upstream.

Thus, this commit fully removes the code related to this feature.

Beta channel

Before releasing updates to the stable channel, the newest versions are uploaded to the beta channel so they can be tested by everyone who's interested. This is another way to contribute to the project, because beta testing can make us notice bugs before they reach the stable channel.
